Yes, I am one of those people.
- I watched Titanic at the movie theatre no less than 8 times (the movie is 3 hours and 14 minutes, which means yes, I spent more than 25 hours of my middle school life watching a ship sink)
- Madedamnsure that I was able to procure a copy of the 2-VHS set on release day (which also was my first day of high school)
- Purchased the DVD Special Edition set in college when it was re-released in a special blue box WITH an alternate ending (and yes, the ship still sinks, but it’s more like an alternate ending in the ‘future’ part of the story, if you were curious)
…ahhhh.
So unless you live under a rock, I am sure that y’all have heard that Titanic is being re-released this week, in 3D. Now, I am not the biggest fan of watching films in 3D (it has a tendency to give me a headache) but you bet your britches that I’ll be attending this lavish event this weekend
And hate on, haters like these, because whether you like it or not, James Cameron is about to haul in a whole bunch of extra bucks in the next few weeks because of crazy people like me…
All joking aside – really, I cannot think of any better way to celebrate my 28th year of life than taking a journey back to feeling 13 again. So whether you decide to take your spot on the RMS Titanic this second sailing or not, I know I will be!

Titanic – love it or hate it?

I hate it. A lot. I wasn’t even going to watch it when it was in theaters the first time, but I was made to. It came out when I was in college, and one of my professors for a writing class thought it would be brilliant to require us to go see it and then write a movie review. I even asked if I could review a different film, but no, she wanted us to watch Titanic and only Titanic. So, admittedly, I was already resentful that I was being forced to shell out sparse college-student dollars to watch a movie I didn’t even want to see. The movie felt to me like it would never end. It was so cheesy, and while I love comedic cheese, I cannot handle earnest schmoopy cheese. I actually rolled my eyes when Kate and Leo let go of one another’s hands in the middle of the ocean. And obviously, I panned the movie in my review for my writing class.
Despite that, I don’t really care if other people love it. Certainly I love some movies that others find terrible, so whatever – go forth and make James Cameron some money, girl! Just don’t make me go with you
HAH! This is one of the many reasons why I heart you, girl – you can have a totally different opinion but back it up so well
Admittedly, many of the reasons why you despise it are the reasons why I love it
HUGE fan of Titanic
And Celine Dion! Why does everyone love to hate her!? I would totally see this in 3D!
LOVE!
I think we’re gonna make a trip of it and watch it in Waynesboro at their newer theater with fancy seats
My boyfriend posted the same picture yesterday—she totally had room!!!! I love the movie though–I was 8 when it came out and even had a t-shirt! (Yes, I was a nerdy 8 year old). I doubt I’ll see if in theaters, but I am going to rewatch it!!
Wow, 8 years old….LOL…make me feel old
I definitely also had a teeshirt…
LOVE it! My BFF & I drove to Columbus, OH to see it with a bunch of friends. I’m one of those emotional people that will find a reason to cry in every single movie LOL. I won’t be going to see it in the theater though. My BFF lives in CA, and I’m in FL. We both agreed that seeing it without each other just wouldn’t be right. I know, we’re weird.
p.s. I’ve also gone to the traveling exhibits and I cry there too.
Hahah OMG I love the exhibits too…ahhh…
I love the movie and seem to get sucked in every time it’s on tv! I actually kinda wanna see it in the theatres but I can’t get anyone to come with me! The boyfriend looked at me like I had three heads when I suggested it! I saw an interview with Kate Winslet and she is always hilarious. Love her to death. She was joking that she hasn’t seen it in 3D yet but is scared about what the nude scene will look like.
And now I’m totally intrigued about the alternate ending. Think it’s on youtube?
Agree, I love Kate Winslet. She is a pretty awesome person.
I bet that alternate ending is on Youtube somewhere…it’s not TOO different than the actual one, but I kind of like it a little better…
I love it! It’s a classic and brings me back to that time as a child. Love the poster — I remember thinking “WHY WONT HE GOT ON WITH HER!?”
I know, right?! It’s like he wanted to die there….wah….haha…
