This weekend, I am scheduled to run 10 miles – but unfortunately, they’ll be logged in Charlottesville, VA, about 800 miles North of where I’d prefer to be running them
Yes, it’s another runDisney weekend – and though it’s hard to not be down there in my ‘happy” place for the race – and the amazing Epcot 30 celebration, this year, it’s kind of, almost, somewhat…okay. Why is this, you might ask?
Sure, I had Facebook and twitter last year (even wrote a post about following along online with friends down for the 2011 Wine and Dine half and celebration at Magic Kingdom) but this year, I’ve had the amazing opportunity to really connect with more Disney fans through a handful of unofficial Facebook groups (Team #runDisney, the Disney Pacebook Running Club and the Mickey Moms Club Super Group) which has allowed me to follow along on so many adventures to Disney and make so many wonderful friends, across the country and around the world.
This spirit of shared happiness is something I find so very unique to those that love Disney – we enjoy our experiences so much, but more than just ‘being there,’ we know how to appreciate and have fun through others. As my title suggests, I’ve coined this unique feeling, “Happy Jealousy” – it’s like this elation overload – intense joy for something you can’t touch or taste, but you can definitely feel.
So, while I might feel these pangs of coveting for the fantastical merchandise being offered, or a growl in my tummy for some of those amazing foods I am seeing all over Instagram from the Food and Wine Festival booths, the overriding emotion that I am experiencing is best represented by the permagrin that’s plastered to my face
What are your weekend plans? Are you headed to Disney? Already there? Wish you were?
