Oftentimes, words and phrases seem to get swept up into feelings or associations that may not be their exact match.  At the risk of sounding trite, I’d say that nine times out of ten, it has something to do with the big “to be avoided during dinner conversation” topics: religion and politics.

Now, before you point your mouse away, don’t despair: Shiawase Life’s blog focus is not changing – instead, it is purely digging a little deeper.

Stick with me, here.

Okay, now that we have that established…what is the first thing you think of when I say type the world, “faith?”

I’ll give ya a minute or two…

OK, let’s circle back.

Faith is trust, hope and belief in the goodness, trustworthiness or reliability of a person, concept or entity.(1)

Was that what you were thinking?

You see, I think many people equate faith with just one concept – when in reality, faith CAN and IS “that” for many people, but encompasses so much more.  Faith in yourself, faith in your humanity, faith in love…they’re all valid.  You might place a value on one degree more than others, but there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to faith.  It transcends all.  Or none.  You get it.

So why all this talk of faith today?  Well, it’s my way of introducing a blog that has literally transformed my view on many things: Dorothy Beal’s MILEPOSTS.

I cannot recall the day, month or moment that I started reading Dorothy’s blog, but what I can tell you is that it has inspired me ever since.  Just a click over to her running story could inspire the couchiest of couch potatoes to throw on a pair of shoes and get out there!  Seriously!  She proves every single day that every step, every mile (and more importantly, every smile) is something to be proud of!

She’s run countless races, given her honest opinion on a plethora of gear and can write one heck of a humbling post!  Oh, and did I mention that she ran through her pregnancies AND has three gorgeous kids now?

Triple threat! 🙂

I mean, really!  Next time you make some sort of excuse for not getting out there (no matter what ‘getting out there’ means for you!) take Dorothy’s advice…so many of our day-to-day tasks feel like obligations.  Stuff we “have” to do.  Cleaning the house, getting the groceries, doing laundry…but just swap out “have to” with “get to.”  Not everyone is as lucky as we are!  Everyday, we should be thankful for all we have: health, family, friends…the rest are details.

Dorothy’s faith in continual self-improvement, the love and support of her family, the joy of racing and the belief in an higher power all completely complement each other.  Her enduring spirit keeps me hooked to her blog with each new post and I truly do look to her as a source of motivation.

…and I would be lying if I said that twitter exchange didn’t make me choke up a little!

Long story short, if you’re looking to add something to your reader that:

  1. Inspires you to make (and shatter!) goals
  2. Helps you learn more about balance
  3. Is written by an honest and fun blogger
  4. Will inspire your faith in perseverance, family and life in general
…then perhaps you should check out Mile Posts!  Go on – I’m sure you’ll be just as hooked as I am!
