The Quickest Coast to Coast in the West…and East…

It just occurred to me that I haven’t made my crazy announcement official on the blog…so here it is:

A Marathon one weekend and a Half the next…what, it’s magical! 😉

Yeah, I know – after I made that big deal about running “just” the Full Marathon at the upcoming Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend – and most of those reasons are still valid – besides, my version of 39.3 over the span of a week does make more sense in a few ways, namely:

  • In one week, I’ll earn the Coast to Coast medal – that is, running a half distance or longer at both domestic Disney parks in one calendar year.
  • I like the idea of running the full first, followed by a few recovery-ish days, Disneyland fun, then a pixie-dusted half marathon!
  • Waking up on the West Coast (when you’re on East Coast time) is pretty sweet. The early wake up call won’t be nearly as bad 😉
  • It’s at DISNEYLAND!
I registered just a few days before the event officially sold out!

So yes, it’s still CRAZY but would you expect anything else from me? Plus, the super bonus? My BFF Matthew is going to be making the trip with me out to California, so not only will I be in the Happiest Place on Earth, doing something that makes me happier than almost everything, it’ll literally be the Happiest weekend ever. Not a bad way to start 2013, if you ask me!

I am incredibly excited to see the wonderful new improvements to Disney California Adventure – especially Cars Land and the new entry way featuring Carthay Circle & the trolleys!

Additionally, I am stoked to visit Trader Sam’s – I don’t know how we missed it last time, but gosh, you better believe that Matthew and I will be lounging, Tiki-style come this January!

To say that I am looking forward to this fantastic runDisney adventure would surely be the understatement of the century, but as you can imagine, with it being right around 6 months away, I do need to pace my excitement levels – besides, there are a lot of fun things happening between then and now, after all (including that short trip to Disney for Wine and Dine, heh) but a little planning never hurt anyone, so…

For all those Disneyland fans out there…what’s your MUST SEE on a trip to ‘the Motherland’ 😉 ?!

  2. […] into some sort of makeshift marathon plan of my own design and having an absolute blast down in Florida, then California. I am so excited to be around so many friends and fellow runners that do this for the same reasons […]

  3. Hi! found your blog searching for WDW marathon pics. I also did the full marathon at WDW on Sunday (my first full marathon) and I will also be doing the Tinker Bell Half for my coast to coast!! Congrats on your accomplishment!
