Carry on.

So, I made my triumphant return to running yesterday – 1.47 miles, in fact.

Why that number? Well…pictures speak louder than words, right?


Yup, took a mad wipe out running down the slick street yesterday. Thankfully, it’s just cuts, scrapes and bruises on both hands, left knee, right calf and right elbow, but it scared the heck out of me because there was a lot of blood initially! The worst part is that I just signed up for one month unlimited at Pure Barre (after taking a class on Sunday morning) and due to the bruising, it’s incredibly difficult to do a plank or pushup without cringing in pain so I am not sure if I’ll be able to get as much use out of the package as I had hoped to, but hey, it definitely could have been much worse so I am thankful. Oh, and with the bandages all over, not sure if it’s conducive to running either, but I’ll work it through with a reverse taper sort of thing.

    • Agreed…I think I am going to stick to TM for the most part until WDW marathon because NOTHING is going to stop me from toeing the line for Mickey!!!!!!!

  1. Aw, that’s a bummer! You’ll bounce back fast though. Maybe you could have the studio where you signed up for Pure Barre move your classes to start at a later date?

    • Jory – Based on how I feel tonight, I might try and go and see if I can handle it – if not, I’ll def take your suggestion and see if I can talk to them about the schedule/package… πŸ™‚

    • Right?!? Hah, so this is the reason i will never do one of those warrior or mud races or whatever…I have enough trouble with the regular sidewalk, lol!!!

  3. Yikes!!! Glad it wasn’t any worse! I get so paranoid in the weeks right before a big race that I’m going to do something stupid, like step off a curb and break something. The funny thing? I’ve done a mud run and LOVED it. Still have the scars πŸ™‚

  5. Krissy, Late to see your post, but none the less, so sorry about your accident. Have you tried New Skin liquid bandage? That works pretty well and might make running easier. Heal quickly!

  6. I hate falling when I’m running. It’s scary when it happens, then there’s that moment when you’re afraid to get up and see how bad the damage it. I’m glad you’re not more seriously injured.

    • Jen – so agree – I definitely was laying on the sidewalk for a good 10-15 seconds before even moving because I was terrified it’d be worse. Thanks for the kind words.

  8. I fall all the time… It makes me so angry when it happens! Get some ice and ibuprofen, and mederma works wonders for preventing ugly scars. My worst ones are on my knees and hands. Hope you feel better soon πŸ™‚

  9. Yikes! Sorry that you fell. :/ I fell on Sunday, but thankfully I only hurt my pride. I am looking into doing a barre class sometime. We just got a studio in Spokane and I have heard great things!
