Post-Marathon MAGIC! (includes BE OUR GUEST!)

Be Our Guest!
More enchanting updates ahead!

Have I really been home for 2 weeks-ish from that magical runDisney racecation? Tres mega sigh! And hear you me, sifting through nearly 1K photos is no joke…I mean, really – but I’m working on it πŸ˜€ If it were up to me, all updates would have been posted ASAP but annoying things like work and schoolwork has been taking my attention lately – although I am in a constant state of feeling behind in all of it!

When I last left off, I recapped what shall remain to be referred to as THE BEST DAY EVER because quite honestly, it was. I mean, yeah, graduating college – getting married – those things are pretty darn awesome but are just in a totally different classification. Running a truly fulfilling marathon is something that’s hard to explain, but let me just say this – I sincerely hope that EVERYONE in life EVER has the chance to do something that just makes them so happy, inside and out, for themselves.

But back to what I was saying.

After 26.2 miles of pixie-dusted marathon magic, I made the trek back to our resort, the Beach Club VillasΒ (side note, after returning home, I realized I totally blogger FAILED and did not take any photos of our room). Although it’s just a 20-minute walk, it took me upward of an hour and a half because I had packed my cowbell in my checked bag and felt the need to cheer the route back πŸ˜‰ Also, I ran into tons of fun people from the WDW Radio Running Team, so that was super fun!

I had picked up a cinnamon sugar pretzel on the way back and noshed on it, getting cinnamon all over myself! Haha! It was so good though. I cheered for a while before deciding to try and cross over the path…and caught this guy outta the corner of my eye!

Yeah! #runchat David! I was so excited that I spotted him and his signature visor πŸ™‚ I wished him well on the last leg (literally, just about 1 mile-ish) before we both set off.

Walking out of the park, I then ran into Ben again! That rockstar practically PR’d the race! We chatted for a bit before I finally made it across the courtyard and back to the room to shower and get the sign to cheer on Rachel…of course, I ended up running into a few more pals and Rachel rocked the marathon so hard that I missed her!

I had to charge up my phone so I hung in the room for a while before heading back out to Epcot to meet up with DaniΒ and Eric πŸ™‚ I was so excited to finally meet these pals in person, after chatting with them on twitter for quite a while! Congrats to them both – Dani on a 1/2 PR and Eric on his first full!

Before long, it was time to head over to the Magic Kingdom for our reservation at Be Our Guest! Rachel had secured the reservations far in advance so we had a great early dinner time seating. Although I had seen a bit of the New Fantasyland on our last trip for Wine and Dine, I had never seen the interior of this new and exciting restaurant so it was SUPER exciting!

I had heard from other guests/friends that the wait could be long even if you had secured reservations – fortunately for us, it was not so! After Rachel checked in, we just had to wait on the bridge for a few minutes before our pager buzzed and we were whisked into the grand doors!

The interior was…breathtaking! It was seriously hard to believe that we were still in the Magic Kingdom, in Orlando, Florida! I mean, I have never been in a ‘real’ castle, but I definitely felt like we were in one at that moment – even the drafty feeling I always imagined! We were walked through the main ballroom (gorgeous! with windows showing real falling snow – check out this post/video for a virtual tour!) and back to the West Wing, where our table was.

After we received our menus (here’s a complete listingΒ – everything sounds good right? Well check out this recap if you’re curious what it’d be like to try it all – seriously) each of us went with a different item – I decided on:

Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop
with Au Gratin Pasta, Seasonal Vegetables, and Red Wine Au JusΒ
(Georges Duboeuf Beaujolais-Villages, Burgundy)

And yes, you read that right….Be Our Guest is the FIRST restaurant in the Magic Kingdom to offer alcoholic beverages…so I HAD to order the suggested glass πŸ™‚ It was reallllllllly good! πŸ˜€ And what fancy post-marathon dinner celebration is complete without a dessert?

The desserts are all petite and adorable – it was a hard choice, but I decided to go with:

Lemon Meringue Cupcake
Vanilla Sponge Cake, Lemon Custard Filling, Flamed Meringue Icing, and Crunch

So good! It was definitely a sweet ending to the meal – but I was glad it wasn’t any bit bigger because I was STUFFED…it was time to have a little fun in the park to walk off that hearty meal!!

In my NEXT POST, I’ll talk about our next stop that evening: STORYBOOK CIRCUS! I loved that area even more than I thought I would πŸ˜€ Following posts will follow a loose chronological order…but feel free to post any questions, comments or requests for the next few recap posts…it might take a few weeks, but I promise it’ll be worth it!

What’s your favorite POST RACE meal or activity? Do you play in the parks after runDisney events?

  1. I am planning on hitting BOG the evening after the Princess Half. Ours a little later, but we are super excited – sounds like everyone really likes the ambiance and food!

    • YES! It is super duper fun πŸ™‚ The one thing that I wish we could have done was try the ‘grey stuff’ we should have said we were celebrating the marathon (you need to be celebrating something to receive it, or so I have heard)! You should request it πŸ˜€

  2. Love your enthusiasm. You look so cute in all the photos too! We also enjoyed an awesome celebration dinner at Be Our Guest.

  3. What a fun restaurant and yummy looking dinner. Your dessert looked fabulous!!!!! My favorite post run food is whatever I can get my hands on…especially after a marathon. It is usually an entire pizza or a hamburger and french fries.

    • Burgers and fries always sound fab after a long run, right? I will never forget how delicious that double double with cheese and a chocolate shake tasted after I ran the Utah valley Marathon! LOL πŸ˜€
