Meandering through Disneyland.

In about 36 hours, I will be headed west to one of my favorite (and definitely the happiest) places on Earth: Disneyland!

Lil’ Pinky, as Nicole would say πŸ™‚

Now, this trip is going to be a little different than trips in the past because for the most part (besides meet ups and, well, running) it’s a solo trip! That means I get to call all the shots – ride what I want, see what I want, eat what I want (kidding…not kidding?) and well, just REALLY have a good ol’ time!

While I was crafting a touring plan for myself, it dawned on me: I’d be totally content visiting the parks and just BEING there. Sure, I love the attractions – and let’s be honest here, it’s pretty much necessary for me to ride it’s a small world at least once every time I visit – but I have been enough times that I will not be bummed in the least if a line is too long, or attractions are being refurbished (here’s the list, if it’s a concern for you).

You see, the big draw for me, this trip, is taking it easy and just BEING in the moment (how Zen). I have made no dining reservations, don’t have any real must-see’s and plan to “wing” it per se, though there are a few things on my list that I look forward to enjoying:

Mickey Beignets

I’ve read about these time and time again, but this time, I need to actually make this happen. The above pic, from Disney Food BlogΒ features the order at Cafe Orleans, but I’ll prob make a stop at the Mint Julep BarΒ so I can get a signature (mock)tail, too.

I haven’t been there since my visit in…er…2004? 2005? It was in college, and I’ve meant to go back because I do like checking out the exhibits, but the last few times I visited, my traveling companions were not too keen on it.

Corn Dog

I’ve never had one at Disneyland, and recently, have been told – by numerous people – that this needs to change. No argument here! There are a few places to get them, but I’ll probably go here. Okay, maybe here

I’ve seen the version at Disney’s Hollywood Studios dozens of times, but never its west coast cousin – and from what I hear, this one is a lot better. I’ll find out on Friday night!

…and last but not least:

Honey Lemon Cupcake at Hungry Bear Restaurant

I know…I’ll probably be cupcaked-out from our meet up, but I have been dreaming about this glittering beauty for the longest time. I just…yeah. And I feel like I am kinda paying homage to my favorite restaurant at Tokyo Disneyland that serves curry rice…yeah, I know it’s random.

So there you have it, in a nutshell. Carbs and fun, that’s the name of the game for my three days in Disneyland – and anything else that happens, well, that’s all just bonus magic to me!

What is your favorite thing to see/eat/do at Disneyland?

  1. I wanna eat some delicious food at Disneyland with you…sad panda. I guess I’ll have to wait for our December WDW eat-a-thon instead. πŸ™‚ I loved the cone shaped foods we had in carsland last time but my favorite meal I’ve had at Disneyland was…Club 33!!! ummm…because it was amazing and I had crab stuffed lobster…say what?! best night ever! can’t wait to see you soon sistah!

  2. Woohoo!!! I’m so glad corn dogs made the list! πŸ™‚ I’m also going solo. I can’t wait for Radiator Springs!! And corn dogs, and Mickey ice cream and just being there!!

  3. I’m also going solo and planning on winging it myself with only a few must do’s. I didn’t get a corn dog when I was there last month so that’s a must. I also want to try and find someone to split a Monte Cristo with me. I love those but can’t eat one by myself. I have to see Wishes because that’s the only show I missed last month and I’m also I’m hoping to score a pair of NB runDisney shoes at the race expo.

  4. I saw the beignets after I rode Pirates of the Caribbean last year… It was all I could do to keep myself from screaming with joy–they’d just opened and gave me ones hot from the fryer. So. Good. Have a wonderful time!

  5. Beignets and corn dogs are on my list, too! I also must try a churro, have a Dole Whip, and you gotta have a Mickey bar! Looking forward to meeting you!

  6. Oh my goodness…everything you listed (except Innoventions) are on my “to have/to do” list. The corn dogs are the best there, I think it’s the Disney magic that makes them so good. I love Fantasmic at Disneyland SO much more than at Hollywood Studios. And the beignets and that cupcake? Be still my heart, SO. YUM. Also the ambiance of those areas is just so perfect for taking time out of your day to just relax and take in the magic of everything around you. I wholeheartedly agree with you, I’m looking forward to just “being there” and experiencing the joy all around you. This will be a great trip no doubt! Hope to finally get to meet you!
