Puppy Brothers

PUPPYBROSSix days ago, hubs was out of town, so Dug and I decided to attend a local event to pass the time that Saturday afternoon.

It was called “Pooches and Pints” and was held at our local craft brew bar, Mr. Beery’s (same place we had participated in the Beer Mile last year) and I honestly went just with the intention of having a nice beer, purchasing some raffle tickets (all proceeds benefitted the Humane Society of Sarasota County (HSSC), where we adopted Dug).

Well, as fate would have it, the HSSC also brought along a few adoptable pooches, and of course, Dug and I had to say, “hi!”

The rest, really is history.

You see, hubs and I had discussed finding a brother for Dug for a while – and since we bought the house, with more space, etc – it felt like the right time! And surprisingly, Dug (who sometimes gets just a wee bit excited about other dogs) was surprisingly calm with the adorable Miniature Pinscher (named Cosmo!) who was waiting to be adopted! I snapped the pic above as we hung out, and couldn’t stop smiling – and the folks at HSSC could tell!

Still, HSSC was super cool and didn’t pressure us at all…but the decision was already made.

I just checked in with hubs via phone – and after a few hours of hanging out in the Mr. Beery’s parking lot, we became a family of 2 pups!

Thank you, Humane Society of Sarasota County!

  1. LOVE LOVE LOVE! Thank you for rescuing a homeless animal! When you rescue one, you actually save 2, as there is now a space in a shelter or rescue for another animal. We have a similar event in Tallahasssee, Pints for Paws. So glad Dug has a new sibling!
