Outrun 2017.

If you’ve followed my blog for any significant amount of time, you know that CHANGE is BIG for me. Since its inception (wayyy back in 2009) my blog has seen me through a lot of changes – my journey to becoming a runner, three moves, pregnancy, and of course, the life changes involved with becoming a parent. Throughout it all, I’ve strived to keep my content clear of outside influence and will continue to maintain and ad-free environment for my audience, because I think that’s the only way to keep it as real as possible.

Two years ago, the dynamic of my online presence changed when I became a RRCA Certified Running Coach and began offering training programs and virtual run coaching at my sister blog, Outrunning the Monorail. It was a conscious decision at the time to separate entities as I carved out a new niche, and continued to find my ‘voice’ in the space.

This past year, I took a hiatus from run coaching and I really missed it. The connections that I made through two seasons of working with others are something that I truly am proud of, and as I contemplated how I’d approach starting things back up, I decided to take a step back to consider how I could make things better. Around the same time, I took a look at myself – and how I could make myself better, too. I was getting back in to running and proud of my progress, but knew I could use a little help in overall health and fitness.

In late August, I took the first step in making changes when I contacted my friend (and fellow new mom) Nicole when she posted about a Challenge Group she was heading. After exchanging a few emails with her, I was off and running, per se! After participating in three groups (September, October, and November), I had not only lost weight, but I re-gained confidence, energy and determination to take the next step! So, (tl;dr) after weeks of consideration and planning, I’m ready to share the next chapter in Shiawase Life and Outrunning the Monorail, and that is adding a new hat to my collection, as a Beachbody Coach.

Branching into the world of Beachbody was not a decision I made lightly. Like many others, I’ve tried many different fitness and weight-loss programs in the past, to varying degrees of success, but something was different this time. I committed fully to a daily dose of superfood nutrition with Shakeology, a 30-minute workout I can complete at home, and incredible accountability tools with Challenge Groups – and this combination was really a game changer. I am a believer, and I am happy to share my experience.

What does that mean for the blog? On the surface, not a lot! I am dedicated to continue to share my honest opinions, offer my assistance (whether paid or not, as a coach, or just as a friend) and make even more connections! Behind the scenes, however, I have realized the importance of integration, so I have been taking the steps the streamline my blog identities, and updating related social media channels.

With the “new” Outrunning the Monorail, I’ll be sharing all aspects of day-to-day life, and I am so excited to share this with YOU!

  1. You’re so inspiring and I know you are going to be a great coach! I’m so glad that we’ve been able to connect through running, motherhood and now Beachbody, despite living on opposite coasts! Looking forward to this journey with you!
